​The Luffa ( L. aegyptiaca) is an amazing plant. It has so many uses such as, edible flowers, edible fruit, shade producing vines, and of course luffas made from the fully mature fruit which can be sold.
 They are easy to grow but need a longish growing season. The plants need 150-200 days to reach full maturity. 
The young fruit can be eaten raw or cooked in a variety of dishes. Almost every south east asian country has their own dish made from this useful plant.
